GROUP PROGRAM FAQ’s

WHAT IS THE COMMITMENT?

Please keep in mind that you are committing to the entire season and dropping out of a show mid-season not only affects you, but also the other students in their group who will need to cover your parts. Using our performance programs as punishment for academic performance is not recommended and may result in the inability to accommodate re-enrollment. Students should not miss more than 2 rehearsals per season and keep current with their responsibilities on the BAND discussion board when they know they will be missing a practice. Poor attendance may result in recasting of your songs.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I'M GOING TO MISS A REHEARSAL?

1) Let your director(s) know by posting on the BAND app.

2) Call, email, or personally let the studio coordinator know at the front desk (720) 789-8866 OR email aurora@schoolofrock.com

WHEN IS THE MANDATORY DRESS REHEARSAL?

All mandatory dress rehearsals will be the last regularly scheduled rehearsal prior to the shows. Please make sure to mark these dates on your calendar!

HOW DO STUDENTS GET CAST ON SONGS?

Please be aware that the first couple of casting sheets may change a little after the director gets to know the group better and has a better understanding of each student’s strengths. We always try to be fair with casting, but please understand that “Fair does NOT mean the same thing, at the same time.” In other words, we look at each individual child’s needs, maturity and ability and work really hard to cast carefully so kids are being challenged, but not overwhelmed. Please do not get into the habit of counting how many songs each child has. However, if you have questions or concerns, please email the management team at aurora@schoolofrock.com with your concerns.

WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS FOR REHEARSALS?

Rehearsals are for learning to play songs together. If students have difficulty learning a song, they should discuss this with their private instructor rather than taking time away from the group for one-on-one instruction. Students are expected to be humble, positive, helpful to other students, and come prepared and focused for each rehearsal. Students should respect the process of growth that each musician goes through.

WHERE DO WE FIND WEEKLY REHEARSAL NOTES?

At the start of each season, we send out links for all students and at least one parent/guardian to join the BAND App. The directors will post weekly rehearsal notes as well as casting sheets. It is *extremely important* that you are on the BAND app for rehearsals to run efficiently and to ensure all students, parents, instructors & directors are on the same page. If you are having trouble accessing your BAND group, please see the front desk for help.

WHERE DO I GO TO FIND TABS AND SHEET MUSIC?

Many songs cast on the shows can be found in the Method App, which has the transcriptions for every instrument and a library of thousands of songs. This is the best resource to check out first! You can also find a variety of online resources for music and lyrics such as Ultimate Guitar, Songsterr, Guitar Pro & E-chords. Ask your private instructors for more help on what resources they recommend.
