School of Rock Aurora Policies

LESSON CANCELLATIONS

We require a 24 hour notice prior to any canceled lesson to make it eligible for a make-up pass. If you call after hours, please leave a message or email us at aurora@schoolofrock.com. Makeup lessons must be rescheduled within 30 days of the original lesson. We cannot reschedule a missed makeup lesson without 24 hours notice. You must have an active plan to redeem makeup lessons. If you decide to cancel your plan, you will forfeit any unused makeup lessons from that point forward. Any lessons canceled by School of Rock Aurora with less than 24 hours notice will receive a makeup pass.

How to cancel and reschedule your lesson online:

  1. Log in to your Pike13 Account

  2. Click on the lesson you wish to cancel

  3. Click on “Cancel Visit” (If canceled more than 24 hours in advance an automatic make-up pass will be applied to your account that expires after 30 days)

  4. Click on “Schedule a Make-up Lesson”

  5. Select your instrument

  6. If you have multiple students you may have to select the student

  7. Choose a time that works best for your schedule (Keep in mind that you can only schedule up to 10 days out when using the online booking system)

You can also call the school at (720) 789-8866 or email us at aurora@schoolofrock.com if you have trouble rescheduling online.

WE ARE NOT A PRIVATE LESSON STUDIO - WE’RE HERE TO ROCK!

For this reason, all eligible students (Ages 8-18 +) are required to participate in at least one group performance program (Opening Act, Rock 101, Headliners or Adult Band) per calendar year to continue at School of Rock. Group performances allow students to be part of a team and community, which accelerates their musical learning, leadership, and collaboration skills. We understand that some students might not feel ready to participate in a performance program when they first join. However, those that continue to decline to participate may need to move their lesson times around to accommodate those students that are. We value all of our students and believe strongly in the benefits of the performance programs, so feel free to reach out to discuss what your student’s path to a performance program could look like.

WEEKLY PRIVATE LESSON NOTES

Private lesson notes will be sent through Pike13 and an email notification will be delivered to you each time. If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at aurora@schoolofrock.com and we will be happy to forward your message to the appropriate instructor. For the safety and privacy of our students and staff we ask that there is NO direct communication via texting, social media, or direct emails between students or parents and their instructors.

REGISTRATION FEE

There is a one time registration fee for each new student. If you choose to take a break from SoR for more than six months, you will need to pay the registration fee again at the time of re-enrollment.

BILLING AND PAYMENT POLICIES

School of Rock Aurora charges tuition on the 1st of each month on a recurring basis. If a customer’s payment fails, the customer has 7 days to provide a new payment method or make arrangements for their bill. If no payment or arrangement has been received within 7 days of a failed payment, School of Rock Aurora will issue a late payment charge of $20. If no payment has been made or received by the 14th of the month, the customer’s enrollment will be canceled and their lesson time will be forfeited.

MEMBERSHIP CANCELLATION POLICY

Notice of a cancellation of enrollment must be given to School of Rock Aurora by the 15th of the month prior to the requested cancellation (i.e. if you would like your billing to stop October 1, we must receive notice by September 15). Any cancellations after the billing has gone through will be refunded as account credit only, which can be applied to future lessons and rehearsals.

CLOSED HOLIDAYS

We do not offer make-ups for our closed holidays because there are several months throughout the year where you get a 5th lesson and/or class for no extra charge :)

- Memorial Day

- Independence Day

- Labor Day

- Halloween

- Thanksgiving Day

- Holiday Break (Dates TBD)

- New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day

TEACHER SUBSTITUTES

Most of our staff are working musicians who tour & perform locally (and occasionally get sick). When we have an instructor out, we will do our best to provide a substitute instructor at your normal weekly lesson time so we don’t disrupt your schedule. We are a community of instructors that are dedicated to providing the best possible educational experience to all of our students. With updated lesson notes and the correct materials, all substitute instructors will be able to pick up right where your regular instructor left off.

LEARNING NEEDS

Our goal at School of Rock is to help each student reach their full potential. Please inform the studio coordinator or instructor of any learning needs your child has and methods that complement your child’s learning style.

PUT YOUR NAME ON YOUR GUITAR CASES / STICK BAGS / BOOKS & MUSIC, ETC.

We have a lot of students going in and out the door each day with equipment and cases that look the same. Make sure to put something on your case that CLEARLY identifies it as yours :) We recommend patches, stickers, buttons, and a colorful piece of tape on the handle that has your name written in permanent marker.

OUR SNOW DAY POLICY:

On snowy days, we will make a decision by 1:00pm as to whether or not we will close the school. This gives us enough time to check the roads, as well as to allot for the ever-fickle Colorado weather that we all know and love. What might look like a menacing snow storm at 8am can easily turn to bright sunshine and slush in just a few hours, in which case, it doesn’t make sense to close the school.

Where to find out if we are closed:

  • Our School of Rock Instagram & Facebook pages

  • The BAND app (if you are in Rock 101, Headliners, or Adult Band)

  • Email - We WON’T be calling every single parent so check your email! (PLEASE MAKE SURE WE HAVE YOUR CORRECT EMAIL ON FILE!)

  • Ch. 9 & 7 on TV

We will continue to offer remote lessons on these closed snow days. This allows us to help meet our customers’ needs and pay instructors for teaching remotely.

If you prefer to have an in-person lesson, please call us at (720) 789-8866 so we can issue a make-up pass and reschedule for a different day. We will waive the 24 hr cancellation/makeup policy only on snow days that we are closed, but you must call us before the start of the scheduled lesson time.

EVEN IF THE SCHOOL IS OPEN, we may still have instructors that cannot come in because of the driving conditions in their part of the city:

If we are open, please assume you can come in for your in-person lesson unless you get a call from us. If your instructor needs to teach from home that day you will have the option to do a remote lesson or reschedule for an in-person lesson.
